Mankind: Labour and leisure

Sustainable development is also connected with the quality of living and working.
More and more, Green Parties plead for what they call “ sustainable combination”, so that everyone has the right to sustainable labour as well as to sustainable living.

“With the right to a sustainable combination we mean a society in which labour is not the only way to social integration, but in which labour is combined in a lasting manner with family tasks, social engagements, personal development and leisure.” AGALEV? Groen Werkt!

At the moment it is undeniable that in our present society, the organisation of our leisure, of our social life and even family life does not proceed according to sustainable principles. Passive consumption rather than creative extension is more rule than exception. Sustainable tourism is certainly not in. Yet, there are many who make an effort to spend their leisure creatively, to extend social networks and to deepen their relationships.
